Grumpy / Sunshine
Slow burn
Review
Plot
This book was an amazing slow burn. Top three slow-burn books I have read so far. I was a little intimidated by how thick of a book it was, but the book goes by really quickly and it had me dying and crying from how dreamy Aaron Blackford was. Just him and Lina were such an amazing grumpy sunshine duo. Prior to reading this book, I think I read like two other grump sunshine books but this one takes the CAKE.
Characters
Lina was great. I mean she was like any kind of female character you would find in a slow-burn contemporary romance. You know, the oh I hate him, maybe I like him, wait a minute I might like him. That kind of personality. She wasn’t like a badass or anything and I don’t think she was awkward? She was good. A little above mediocre, but yeah. I liked her.
Aaron Blackford on the other hand. Oh my. I liked him. I liked him a lot. I love the grumpies in the grumpy sunshine duo with all my heart and he was amazing. I think that in real life he would be too intimidating to talk to and I would for real be scared but watching him with Lina made my ovaries burst. His soft spot for Lina was just something else man. I loved him and his soft spot for Lina and just everything. I love how in slow burn books, the guy tries his best not to show that he fell for her long before but like...we know you know...and with Aaron Blackford he just was ugh….. Every time he had his guard down and showed a little of how much he loved her, I had to take a moment and put the book down and take a moment to stop myself from screaming because it was probably 2 am when I reading it.
Last Thoughts, Parting Words
I really really REALLY wish that I bookmarked this book. I did not start bookmarking my books until The Love Hypothesis and I think this book would have been perfect to bookmark all the little moments so I can go back and reread them. I think someday I will need to reread this book and do that because this book was lovely to read. And considering how thick it is, I think it would do the book justice if I were to mark it up to wind it down. But besides the absolute need to reread the book again, I would recommend this book to people who want a good love story, who is a bit patient (considering this is a slow burn), who loves a moody and grump guy but is never that when he is with her, and someone who’s love language is gift giving (and physical touch hehehe).
My game of choice is choosing who I would like to have a nice dinner with, and that would have to be Aaron, obviously. I don't think I would be able to make eye contact with him, though, because he seems intimidating to look at. So I am going to do a little loop-hole and say I would like to have both Lina and Aaron at the table so she at least is an ice breaker. And maybe not in a fancy restaurant but at a place where there are some good fish tacos.
